Here we have a highly sought-after breather assembly for a 71-3 351 Cleveland. These breathers were equipped with a vacuum unit, located on the side of the base, necessary because these hard-charging motors needed an abundance of air and a second opening was a positive addition when the motor was warm. Engine vacuum held the door closed during idle and normal driving conditions, but under the high demands of acceleration, vacuum decreased and the door was allowed to open, providing a extra boost of fresh air to the carburetor. This breather was a very clean well-balanced piece that enhanced the performance and visual appeal of the 351C.This nice setup includes a nice original base, snorkel, heat shield, and a new heat-riser tube. The chrome lid still has the original factory sticker and would be fine for a daily driven car but those with show cars would probably opt for a re-chrome as there was small patches of pitting that we have taken great care to refinish but have not been able to bring back to show quality luster. This is ready to bolt in as a replacement for your worn unit or the icing on the cake for that 351C being rebuilt in your garage.
