Here we have a rare piece, a Heat Shield for a 1969-70 Mustang, Shelby GT-350, Torino, Cougar, or any other car equipped with the 351 Windsor motor. This original piece, not out in reproduction, commonly is damage disintegrated as the heat combined with the elements cause deterioration. Whether 2 bbl or 4 bbl vehicle, this same heat shield was used in either case. The function of this piece is the transfer heat from the exhaust manifold to the snorkel door to restrict oxygen to the carburetor during initial starts, aiding the car to run a bit richer during cold-idle starts. We find this heat shield to be in above average condition, although it does have some minor surface aging as would be common in a 35 year old part. We have bead-blasted this item and found the metal to be intact, not rusted through, welded, or repaired. The bolt tabs are not broken and this piece has held its original shape very well. A clean piece, will please most if not all although the concourse or high end show car owner might detail! Are you part of the group that has a breather with a snorkel sticking out of it, and nothing attached to it? This is your missing piece! Don't let this one get away as we usually offer these as a part of a complete breather assembly! Should you need a snorkel let us know we can adapt it in.This is just a part of our extensive inventory of early Mustang heat shields and breather equipment, parts, and related accessories that we select from for our weekly eBay auctions. Be sure to check our other auctions, as we offer a new selection of rare, hard to find, and desirable Mustang parts on Ebay each week.
